A Whole New Life

Robert first heard about New London’s Homeless Hospitality Center through the seasonal warming center, and decided to reach out for help.  Newly released from prison (on the very day his mother died of Covid 19), he wanted nothing more than to build a new life including a career in a helping profession.

We helped him find transitional housing and he then accessed NLHHC’s Employment program, and every other program that offers a hand up that he could find.  Today, Robert is housed, and works as a Certified Nursing Assistant. He volunteers at the soup kitchen.  He loves being a New London resident who gives back to his new community, which is something he says was learned from the good people at New London Homeless Hospitality Center.  “Nothing can hold you back except for yourself,” he says.  “I’ve never seen a place like this.  I can’t say enough good things about these people.”
