Lord Foundation Gift Helps

Those Facing Health Challenges

The Edward and Mary Lord Foundation was pleased and privileged to make a Grant in the amount of $200,000 to the New London Homeless and Hospitality Center to assist with the creation of a “respite area” at the facility.

We learned that it had long been the dream of the HHC to create a special “respite” area within the HHC facility to better serve the needs of homeless people facing health challenges or disability issues.

As the Lord Trustees considered the Grant Application of HHC, we reflected back to the days when we ourselves faced recuperation and a healing atmosphere in which to convalesce from hospitalizations or other health scares.

We imagined trying to do so in a non-private, noisy and possibly chaotic surrounding. We realized that helping to create a calm, caring and healing atmosphere within the HHC facility was a perfect fit with the Mission of the Lord Foundation.  It was our pleasure to provide a Grant of seed money that allowed the respite project to move forward.

We give full credit to the staff at the HHC for their foresight and perseverance in bringing the respite area into being. We know that once completed, the respite area will ease suffering, promote recovery to good health and replace despair with dignity.
